Reporting Abuse or Neglect

We want safe, healthy and happy homes for our children but unfortunately, abuse and neglect are common. The first step in helping a child is to know how to recognize abuse and neglect.  If you suspect abuse or neglect, North Carolina law (§ 7B-301) requires that you make a report. A person making a good faith report cannot be held liable (§ 7B-309). Abuse can be physical, emotional or sexual.

If abuse or neglect is suspected in Iredell County, please call the Department of Social Services at 704.873.5631 or your local law enforcement. If you live outside of Iredell County, contact local authorities.
